Day 2 Recap at WATA 2023

The Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association is excited to share the recap of day 2 at the 2023 Annual Meeting and Symposium in Stevens Point, WI, on April 24th, 2023. 

 

There were nine general sessions. About seven continuing education units were available to earn during the second day of the symposium.

The Research Committee chaired by Naoko Giblin, PhD, ATC organizes the Free Communication sessions at the Annual Meeting and Symposium.

Free Communication sessions are short, oral presentations of a clinician's research. 

 

Three presenters participated in the Free Communication Sessions.

Attendees played bingo during the exhibitor break. Attendees who collected 10 stamps from exhibitors

submitted their bingo cards for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

 

Fourteen exhibitors participated in the exhibitor hall.

Raffled and auctioned off were ten gifts or gift baskets and five Milwaukee Brewers signed baseballs.

The proceeds from the raffle go to the Founding Fathers Scholarship. The proceeds from the signed baseballs

went to a combination of the Founding Fathers Scholarship and the PAC Fund. 

 

Raffle items included:

      • Kitchen gift basket with serving bowl, cutting board, wooden utensils, a cookbook, and condiments.

 

      • Four-legged friends gift basket with treats and accessories to keep your doggies feeling great.

 

      • Game night gift basket with three board games, popcorn, and candy.

 

      • Apparel from the Wisconsin Badgers

The Research Reception took place inside the banquet hall at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.

The Research Committee chaired by Naoko Giblin, PhD, ATC organizes the Research Reception.

 

 

Student poster presentations lined the perimeters of the banquet hall.

The concourse outside of the hall displayed posters that did not fit on the walls inside the banquet hall.

 

 

All registered meeting attendees received a complimentary beverage ticket to use during the Research Reception.

The Research Reception featured complimentary appetizers including

veggie trays, chips and salsa, chips and french onion dip, and pita bread and hummus.

 

 

 


 

 

Monday evening at District 1 Brewing in Stevens Point was the PAC Fundraiser.

The PAC Fundraiser helps our Governmental Affairs Committee strengthen our legislative efforts. 

 

The PAC Fundraiser had the largest turnout in recent years with about forty people attending the fundraiser. 

 

District 1 Brewing offered a wide selection of brews. PAC Fundraiser attendees received a complimentary drink token. Attendees also enjoyed pizza and other snacks. The large, open District 1 Brewing had pinball machines, board games, and space to play a bags tournament.
