Athletic training symposiums are busy. Back-to-back lectures, exhibitor expo's, and meetings. It can be hard to find time to have a meal. The Wisconsin Athletic Trainers Association 47th Annual Business Meeting and Symposium planned meals into their symposium program. The planned meals kept attendees engaged in the educational sessions and increased breaks for attendees to network with each other.

Appetizers During Receptions

The appetizer buffet and cash bar during the Awards and Research Receptions, made for a casual and conversational break at the end of day.

Typically, attendees at other conferences break into small groups and go off on their own to have a meal or appetizers. But the relaxed atmosphere during the Awards and Research Receptions allowed for licensed athletic trainers to network in the reception hall together, including students.

Attendees of the Awards and Research Receptions enjoyed a delicious menu of appetizers. Sunday night’s Award Reception featured a menu of:

· Beef canape

· Southwest pinwheels

· Chicken quesadillas with trio salsa

· Wisconsin cheese platter

Monday night’s Research Reception featured a menu of:

· Wisconsin cheese platter

· Veggies and dip

· Chips and french onion dip

· Nachos with salsa, Pico de Gallo, and a cream cheese sun dried tomato dip.

Working Lunch

The 47th Annual Meeting and Symposium featured a working lunch on day two. Attendees sat in groups at tables and speakers gave case studies while they ate lunch. The working lunch was a great chance for attendees to discuss potential differential diagnoses with each other.

Unfortunately, attendees at other conferences may end up missing sessions to find a lunch.

The 47th Annual Meeting and Symposium attendees were able to buy a boxed lunch ahead of time with their registration. If they did not buy a boxed lunch, they could visit one of the local restaurants and bring their lunch into the expo center where speakers were presenting case studies. The pre-ordered boxed lunches featured:

· A sandwich or veggie wrap with condiments,

· Bag of chips,

· Apple,

· Cookie

· Soda or Gatorade

Breakfast Is the Most Important Meal of The Day

Before the Business Meeting on day three, attendees enjoyed a buffet style breakfast. At other conferences, attendees might have to wait in long lines to get a grab-and-go breakfast. But not at the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association. The 47th Annual Meeting and Symposium served breakfast with:

· Scrambled eggs,

· Potatoes,

· Fruit,

· Pancakes

· Sausages
